Do my parent and I need to download an app?

Your parent never needs an app store download. The daily check-in is a text with one button, or a notification from their Cozy Check-ins page: Android phones turn notifications on right in the browser, and an iPhone (iOS 16.4 or later) needs Cozy added to the Home Screen first (Share, then Add to Home Screen) — no App Store. Prefer an app for a more hands-on daily check-in? Cozy Check-ins works like one from the home screen — always optional. You'll set everything up from any web browser; your own alerts can come as notifications too, which on an iPhone also means Cozy on your Home Screen. If your parent doesn't have a smartphone at all, Cozy can call them instead: one short automated call each day, and they press 1 to check in (US numbers). Read how the daily check-in call works

Is this a medical alert or an emergency service?

No. Cozy Check-ins is a non-medical daily check-in for everyday peace of mind — not an emergency device and not a substitute for 911. Many families use it alongside a medical alert. In an emergency, always call 911. If you're comparing options, Cozy is a non-medical senior check-in service: one daily check-in tap, and family is alerted if it's missed.

What happens if my parent misses a check-in?

If your parent doesn't tap their button, the family Circle you've chosen is notified so someone can reach out. It's a gentle nudge to a real person who cares — not an automated emergency response.

Will it track my parent's location?

Never. No GPS, no cameras, no location tracking. Cozy Check-ins only knows your parent tapped their check-in button — presence, not surveillance. We don't sell data.

Is there a contract, or can I cancel anytime?

No long-term contract — Cozy Check-ins is month-to-month, and you can cancel anytime. If it's not the right fit for your family, you're free to stop whenever you like.

Will my parent find it annoying?

Most don't — there's almost nothing to it: one friendly "good morning" notification or text, and one tap, on their terms. They stay in control. It's checking in, not checking up.

My mom refuses to wear her medical alert pendant. How can I know she checked in each day?

You're not alone — many older adults leave the pendant in a drawer. Cozy Check-ins doesn't ask her to wear anything. Each day she gets one friendly notification or text and taps one button to check in; if she doesn't, you and the rest of her Circle are notified so someone can call. It isn't a replacement for an alert pendant in a fall or emergency — it's the everyday check-in signal that a pendant she won't wear can't give you.
